Isaac Morris
The quick smile and joyful presence of a boy named Isaac Morris is contagious. If he were sitting next to you on a couch, you might assume he is just a typical, precocious five-year-old boy.
You’d be wrong.
You see, Isaac has Spina bifida. Spina bifida is a condition that affects the spinal column and the nerves therein, often with disabling results. So far in his short life, Isaac has endured seven surgeries - five on his brain and two on his spine. Even now, as you read this letter, Isaac and his family prepare for yet another operation.
But this time will be different. Although necessary to prolong his life, this surgery will come with a very high price. This surgery will take away his ability to walk. At age five.
Isaac’s family lives in Bolivar, MO. Isaac has a seven-year old brother, Brent, and a one-year old sister, MaKenzie. MaKenzie also has Spina bifida. The kids parents, Jennifer and Robert, have been told that the odds of a man and a woman having two children with Spina bifida are one in one hundred thousand. I’m sure you can imagine the emotional and financial hardships this creates.
Isaac’s surgery is scheduled for September 25th. Please pray that when Isaac goes to the hospital on the day before the surgery, the doctors will notice such improvement in Isaac’s condition that the surgery become unnecessary . Please pray that God will encourage Robert and Jennifer as they walk though this trial. Pray for the healing of the bodies of MaKenzie and Isaac. Ask God to bless Brent as his siblings demand great time and care by both parents.
Please thank God for his financial provision for the family.
I would like to thank all those who contributed to allow Morris family to have a vacation weekend in St. Louis on Sept 21-23, 2007. Your generosity is greatly appreciated! If you would like to help support the Morris family during this difficult time please e-mail me at Michael@rejoicinginhope.org .
